Create an X (Twitter) account
ZippityOne posts to X through a regular X account — unlike some platforms, X has no separate business account type to set up. If your business isn't on X yet, signing up takes about five minutes.
What you'll need
- An email address or phone number — X verifies whichever one you sign up with
- A name for the account — your business name works
- Nothing else: no business documents, no account-type switch, no waiting period
Step by step
- 1
Go to the sign-up page
On a computer, go to x.com/signup and click the sign-up button. (X also documents the same flow in its iOS and Android apps if you'd rather use your phone.)
- 2
Enter your details
A “Create your account” box appears and walks you through sign-up — you'll be prompted for your name and a phone number or email address. Use your business name, and an email you actually check. Note X's rule: an email address can only be attached to one X account at a time.
- 3
Verify your email or phone
X immediately sends a confirmation — an email with instructions if you signed up with an email address, or a text message with a code if you used a phone number. Complete it and your account is live.
- 4
Connect it to ZippityOne
That's the whole setup. When you connect X on ZippityOne's Connect Socials page, X shows you a consent screen listing exactly what the connection can do — review it and click “Authorize app”. You can revoke the connection any time from X's Apps and sessions settings.
Full official instructions are in X's help article, Signing up with X.
Common snags
No business account? Correct — there isn't one
If you're hunting X's settings for a “switch to business account” option, stop — X doesn't have one. Connected apps like ZippityOne work with any regular X account. (X sells advertiser tools and paid subscriptions separately, but none of them are needed to publish posts.)
Signed in to the wrong account when connecting?
The consent screen authorizes whichever X account is currently signed in — in your browser that's the session at x.com. If you run a personal account too, make sure you're signed in as the business before you click Authorize. Wrong account? Disconnect in ZippityOne, switch accounts on x.com, and connect again.
